Rosa Elena Pinzón was an Ecuadorian supercentenarian who was the nation’s oldest living resident.

BIOGRAPHY

Rosa Elena Pinzón was born in Nambacola, Gonzanamá, Loja Province, Ecuador, on 29 March 1913 (claims 26 June 1913). She worked as a seamstress and was married to Luis Antonio Villacres Matailo. Together, they had 12 children: Amada, Olga, Cleotilde, Dioselina, Carlos, Armando, Alfonso, Manuel, Gloria, José, Magdalena, and Rosalina.

At the age of 73, she left her home in Surunuma, a hamlet within Nambacola, and later moved to Quito.

As of June 2024, her descendants included 70 grandchildren, 140 great-grandchildren, and 45 great-great-grandchildren.

Rosa Elena Pinzón passed away in Quito on 28 April 2026, at the age of 113 years, 30 days.

RECOGNITION

LongeviQuest previously listed her with a birthdate of 31 May 1914, based on evidence available at the time. However, new evidence has since been discovered indicating that she was born on 29 March 1913—over a year earlier than previously believed. Her age is currently under review.
