BIOGRAPHY

Pedro Malpica Luna was born in Santa Fe, Veracruz, Mexico on 22 September 1908 (claimed 23 September 1910). He spent the first nine years of his life in Santa Fe before moving to Paso de la Milpa, Actopan, due to family circumstances. As a child, he often accompanied his mother to San Francisco de la Peña, where they sold corn and beans. They made the journey on donkeys.

Even in his later years, he vividly recalled the days of the Mexican Revolution—how the revolutionaries would pass through town and the girls were hidden away to keep them from being taken. On several occasions, his mother prepared and served meals to the soldiers.

Pedro Malpica Luna passed away on 29 March 2019, at the age of 110 years, 188 days.

RECOGNITION

His age was verified, and listed as pending validation by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS) organization on 8 July 2021.
