Katharina “Nina” Hofer-Lustenberger was a Swiss supercentenarian. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).

BIOGRAPHY

Nina Hofer-Lustenberger was born in Nottwil, Lucerne, Switzerland, on 28 November 1904. She came from a large family. After completing her apprenticeship as a men’s tailor, she moved to Kriens in 1928. There, she and her husband managed a small farm for over 60 years. Her husband passed away in 1987, and in 2000, she moved into a retirement home.

Nina Hofer-Lustenberger passed away in Kriens, Lucerne, on 2 November 2015, at the age of 110 years, 339 days.

RECOGNITION

On 26 January 2015, following the passing of Alice Roffler-Waldmeier, she became the oldest living person in Switzerland. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Lucrezia Furceri (4 May 1907 – 27 December 2016).

Hofer-Lustenberger’s age was verified by Flavio Stuber and validated by the ESO on 23 June 2022.
