Moto Akaishi (Japanese: 赤石モト) is a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.
BIOGRAPHY
Moto Akaishi (赤石モト) was born in Rokunohe, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, on 23 June 1916.
She lost her husband in the war while she was in her 30s and subsequently raised her four children while making a living through farming.
On 25 June 2016, Akaishi celebrated her 100th birthday. On the occasion, the deputy mayor of Rokunohe Town, Aomori Prefecture, visited her and presented her with a certificate of commendation and a monetary gift. She has always loved fashion, flowers, and trees. Even in advanced age, she continues to respond to beautiful things and enjoy colors.
According to her care home, the secret to Akaishi’s longevity is “meat.” Meat is her favorite food, and she looks especially happy whenever it is served.
RECOGNITION
In September 2025, Akaishi was announced as the oldest living person in Aomori Prefecture. In 2026, she was once again announced as the prefecture’s oldest living person.
Her age was verified by Rokunohe Town, Ryohei Asano and Marco Wikkerink, and validated by LongeviQuest on 16 September 2026.
