Moacyr Nunes Barroso was a Brazilian supercentenarian.
Moacyr Nunes Barroso was born in Guanhães, Minas Gerais, Brazil, on 31 March 1909, to parents Pedro Alves Barroso (died 1912) Aneglia Nunes Coelho (1882–1973). He had six siblings: Iracema (1899–1989), Zely (1901–1985), Zulmira (1903–1990), Altamiro (born 1904), Zilah (1906–1956), and Graciema (1911–2010).
At some point, he married Jandira Nunes Coelho (1909–1987). The couple had six children (Carmen, Selma, Eni, Jorge, Helena, and Paulo), and they adopted their niece, Neusa, when she was 9. For several decades, he divided his time between a countryside house with a balcony and an apartment in Belo Horizonte.
At the age of 110, his hearing was diminished, and his memory often faltered. However, his speech remained clear and lucid. By then, his family included seven children, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He walked with assistance, took medication, and attended physiotherapy sessions twice a week. Despite his age, he disliked staying in bed and remained active. Every evening at 7 PM, he looked forward to the daily card games, playing with whoever was present in the house.
His age has not been validated.
