Miyuki Kozaka [Japanese: 小坂美雪] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Ishikawa Prefecture at the time of her passing.

BIOGRAPHY

Miyuki Kozaka (小坂美雪) was born on January 21, 1903. At the age of 17, she married and went on to raise four sons and four daughters while working in agriculture. She was later blessed with 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Kozaka moved into a nursing home at the age of 105. At a ceremony held on September 16, 2013, to celebrate her longevity, she shared her daily philosophy by saying, “Smiling all the time just feels better.” Her family attributed her long life to having three moderate meals a day and getting plenty of sleep.

Kozaka became the oldest living person in Ishikawa Prefecture on September 17, 2012, following the passing of Sato Yamamoto of Kanazawa City at the age of 111.
She passed away from natural causes in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture, on October 1, 2013, at the age of 110 years and 253 days. Following her passing, Iso Nakamura of Kanazawa City, also aged 110, succeeded her as the prefecture’s oldest living person.

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 2 July 2014 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
