BIOGRAPHY
Mitsu Toyoshima was born in Japan on 5 January 1907.
At the age of 110, she said that the secret to her good health was exercising every day and eating three meals a day. At the age of 111, she was reported to be living in a nursing home in Midori Ward. She remained particular about her food and continued to eat well without being picky.
On 13 September 2019, in celebration of Respect for the Aged Day, Aoba Ward Mayor Shigeyoshi Koide and Aoba Ward Social Welfare Council Chairperson Harumi Yoshimura visited her at the age of 112 to honor her longevity. They presented her with a congratulatory letter and commemorative gifts. It was reported that she had previously been in poor health and had been unable to respond to visitors, but by the time of the celebration her condition had improved and she appeared to be in good spirits. According to her family, the secrets to her longevity were her easygoing nature and her ability to avoid stress. They also noted that she enjoyed meat and fish, and was especially fond of eel.
Mitsu Toyoshima likely passed away in November 2019, when she went to limbo status, at the age of 112. She was a resident of Midori-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.
