Myra Mildred Salk (née Jaffe) was an American supercentenarian. Her age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and recognised by LongeviQuest.
Mildred Salk was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA, on 3 November 1904. Her parents were Samuel Jaffe (1873–1934) and Anna Getz (1880–1949), both immigrants from the Russian Empire. She had four brothers: Bernard William (1903–1981), Harold (1907–1999), Elmer Theodore (1910–1993), and Dorman Phillip (1916–2004). She graduated with the Bloom Township High School class of 1918.
In 1927, Mildred married Dr. Charles Maurice Salk (1902–1978), and the couple settled in Chicago. She was widowed in 1978. She had a son, Joel.
Mildred Salk died in Chicago on 28 July 2017, at the age of 112 years, 267 days.
Following the passing of Edna Lawler on 31 January 2016, she became the oldest known living person in the state of Illinois. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Lisl Schaaf.
