Máxima Ramona Cabrera Alfaro was an Uruguayan supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS).

BIOGRAPHY

Máxima Cabrera Alfaro was born in Maldonado, Maldonado Department, Uruguay, on 18 November 1893. She lived her entire life in this city and raised her children there. She worked as a domestic worker in various households, which allowed her to visit different tourist destinations in Uruguay, such as Punta del Este and Montevideo. She never married but had two daughters: Rosa Inocencia (1910–2008) and Irma (born 1921).

At the age of 110, she was honored by the Board of Maldonado. At the time of her 110th birthday in 2003, she had three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren (six generations in total). Her first daughter died in 2008, aged 97, while her second daughter was still alive as of June 2019, aged 98.

Máxima Ramona Cabrera Alfaro died in the city of Maldonado, Uruguay, on 13 February 2004 at the age of 110 years, 87 days.

RECOGNITION

In November 2003, her 110th birthday, she became the first Uruguayan-born supercentenarian, and second overall in the country, after Manolita Pina-Torres.

At the time of death, she was the oldest living person in Uruguay.

Her age was verified by Esteban González Olase and Stefan Maglov, and validated by the LAS in 2019.
