BIOGRAPHY

Maude Buckley was born in Elwood, Indiana, USA on 8 February 1899. She graduated from Elwood High School in 1917, and later attended the University of Chicago. From 1920 to 1922, she was the city librarian in Elwood. In the mid 1920s, she married L. Mortimer Buckley. The couple would remain together for 56 years until Mortimer’s death in 1982.

In 1990, at the age of 91, she attended the reunion of her 1917 graduating high school class. At the time, she still lived alone in her two story homestead in Dallas, and drove her car. She enjoyed playing bridge, and would knit and crochet dolls for children in the intensive care unit of the Children’s Medical Center.

Maude Buckley passed away in Dallas, Texas, USA, on 8 April 2009 at the age of 110 years, 59 days.
