Marie-Catherine Mora was born in Madrid, Community of Madrid, Spain, to French parents. Her parents were originally from the province of Béarn. During her youth, she attended the French High School in Madrid and later pursued studies in business.
At the age of 21, she married a Basque-Bearnese man, and the couple subsequently relocated to the Ivory Coast, where they resided until 1945. They then returned permanently to the Pyrenees. They had at least two children, who would later give her 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Even at 110, she diligently exercised her memory by completing crossword puzzles every day. Regarding her physical fitness, she was an athletics enthusiast and has maintained her condition by participating in various activities offered by the nursing home where she resided, including gymnastics and yoga classes, which she attended weekly.
Marie Mora passed away in Billère, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, on 15 November 2024, at the age of 110 years, 233 days.
