Marie-Louise Jaouen (née Le Foll) is a French supercentenarian who is currently one of the oldest living people in France.

BIOGRAPHY

Marie-Louise Jaouen was born as Marie-Louise Le Foll in Quimper in the Finistère department of Brittany, France, on 17 September 1914. She began her education at the age of 9 and received her school certificate at the age of 13. Subsequently, she remained on a farm. Immediately after obtaining her school certificate, she entered the workforce by assisting her parents on the farm.

In 1937, she married Michel Jaouen, with whom she had three children: Jeanne Marie (83 in 2024), René (81 in 2024), and Marie-Noëlle (75 in 2024). They would later be blessed with 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The couple worked in market gardening and cattle breeding, selling their produce twice a week at the Quimper market.

Jaouen lived independently until the age of 106, when a serious fall led her to move into a nursing home. According to her daughter, it was the crosswords that kept her mind sharp, and before she moved into the nursing home, she was still doing them. Despite reaching 110, she did not feel optimistic about her longevity and chose not to celebrate her milestone birthday. “She believes she is too old,” said a staff member at the nursing home where she resided.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by Guillaume Legris of Les Grands Centenaires Français, and validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation on 28 August 2025, and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
