Maria Negri was an Italian supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in the country in 2007. Her age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and recognised by LongeviQuest.
Negri was born in Arzignano, Veneto, Italy, on 12 March 1895. She died in Sarego, Veneto, on 13 January 2007 at the age of 111 years, 307 days.
Negri’s age was verified by Giovanni Alunni and validated by the GRG on 30 March 2005.
From the 3 April 2005 death of Tullia Pesce, Negri became the oldest living person in the region of Veneto, and following the death of Lorenza Dotta on 11 January 2007, Negri became the entirety of Italy’s oldest resident. Upon her own death two days later, the title passed to Lucia Lauria, then aged 110, and Veneto’s oldest person became Venere Pizzinato, who would become the oldest Italian ever in 2010.
