Espinosa Ramírez was born in Durango, Durango, Mexico, on 22 March 1916. She was the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Manuel Espinosa and Dolores Ramírez, and the eldest of her siblings, with nine children: five sons and four daughters.
Due to the Mexican Revolution, her family had been displaced from their native Cuencamé, so she was born in the city of Durango. Around 1922, the family returned to Cuencamé, when the armed conflict had ended.
She married in 1932, and had her first child at 17. Later, she and her husband, Manuel Rivas Flores, a barber, moved to the city of Torreón, Cohauila, seeking education for their children.
When asked about her longevity secret she said: “Don’t drink wine and don’t smoke.”
She passed away on 9 February 2026 at her home in Cuencamé de Ceniceros, Durango, Mexico, at the age of 109. She lived with her youngest daughter at the time of her death.
Her age was verified by James Roberts, Gabriel Ainsworth and Fabrizio Villatoro, and validated by LongeviQuest on 15 November 2025.
