Maria Alves Ribeiro is a Brazilian semi-supercentenarian.
BIOGRAPHY
Maria Alves Ribeiro, affectionately known as “Mariquita”, was born on 17 June 1917, at Fazenda Boa Vista, Caratinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil, to parents João Ribeiro and Jovelina Alves da Silva. She was one of six children.
Her father, João Ribeiro, served as a city councilman for several terms in Caratinga, and her paternal uncle, Tátão Ribeiro, was also a city councilman in Caratinga. Her paternal grandfather, Dr. Silvestre José Ribeiro, served as a city councilman in Caratinga for several terms as well, and was also vice president of the Caratinga City Council from 1901 to 1903. In 1893, he was decorated as a captain-surgeon. Her great-grandfather, Joaquim José Ribeiro, was a very influential man in Caratinga who contributed to the construction of the first Catholic church in Caratinga around the year 1869.
Maria was known as a woman of great charm. She was meticulous about her appearance, as she was a highly skilled seamstress who dressed her clients with great elegance. She was always striving to learn the very best in order to offer the very best.
