Marcelina Araúz de Maure was a Panamanian supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS). At the time of death, she was the oldest known living person in Panama.

BIOGRAPHY

Marcelina Arauz was born in Ocú, Herrera Province, Panamá, on 1 June 1909. She married a man with the surname Maure. They had four children.

At the age of 111, she had nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and more than 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Marcelina Araúz de Maure passed away in Los Llanos, Ocu District, Herrera Province, Panama, on 26 March 2022, at the age of 112 years, 299 days. Her death was due to COVID-19.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by Stefan Maglov and Fabrizio Villatoro, and validated by the LAS on 3 June 2020.

On 10 July 2020, following the passing of 111-year-old Elvira Paredes de Samaniego, she became the oldest (known) living person in Panama. She held the title until her own passing in March 2022, when she was succeeded by Dolores María Vázquez.
