Luzia Mohrs [Sister Maria Electis] was a German-born Brazilian supercentenarian who, at the age of 113 years, 207 days, was the oldest verified living person in Brazil and the oldest verified living German-born person. She was also the oldest living immigrant in the world.

BIOGRAPHY

Luzia Mohrs was born in Pommern, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, on 23 March 1904.

On 23 March 1926, she entered the novitiate of the Sisters of Notre Dame in Mülhausen, Germany, and received the name Maria Electis.

In 1939, she migrated to Brazil and stayed in Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul to study the Portuguese language until July 1939. In August 1939, she became a member of the community of Clinica Olive Leite in Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul. She has lived in the community since 1988.

In 2013, she celebrated the 85th anniversary of religious life.

Luzia Mohrs died in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil on 16 October 2017 at the age of 113 years, 207 days.
