Luigia Maria Cavallari is an Italian supercentenarian.
BIOGRAPHY
Luigia Cavallari was born in Borgonovo Val Tidone, Emilia-Romagna, Italy, on 13 July 1916. She was born to Giuseppe Giacomo Francesco Cavallari and Anna Resenterra. Her parents met in Switzerland, where her father worked as a bricklayer and her mother earned a living as a street vendor, carrying a crate of haberdashery and small household items on her back. She lived in Borgonovo until her early teens. At the age of 14, she moved to Lamon to live with her mother’s family, where she cared for her younger siblings while her parents continued working in Switzerland.
On 19 April 1947, she married Luigi Resenterra, and together they had two daughters, Paola and Maria Teresa. Until 1964, she devoted herself to running the family bar in Lamon, dedicating her energy both to the business and to caring for her family.
At the age of 109, she was still living alone in her apartment and remained fully independent in carrying out her daily activities, although she received support from her daughters. Even at the age of 110, she maintained a passion for sports, particularly cycling and soccer.
RECOGNITION
