Moreau was born in the commune of Aize in Indre Department, Centre-Val de Loire, France, on 25 October 1912. She spent part of her childhood in her birthplace until the end of World War I, living with her grandmother who ran a café. She then returned to her parents’ home in Issoudun, where she trained as a seamstress.
In 1932, she met Raymond Moreau, a policeman originally from Condé, whom she would marry in 1934. The couple moved several times due to her husband’s job, following his different postings, notably in Falaise (Calvados) and Courbevoie (Hauts-de-Seine). They had two sons: Claude, who died in 2019, and Gérard. She was an avid cyclist, continuing to ride until she was 95. After her husband died in 1980, she became involved in a mutual aid association for the blind.
In 2016, at the age of 104, she left her house in Issoudun to move into a nursing home. She had to move in because she had just suffered a broken femur, making it increasingly difficult for her to cook, wash, and live independently. At the age of 107, it was reported that although she never read much, she still watched some TV and kept up with world news. At the age of 110, she had six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. On the day of her 110th birthday party, many of them made the trip, with part of the family coming specially from Canada.
Moreau passed away in Issoudun, Indre, Centre-Val de Loire, France, on 22 June 2024.
Moreau’s age was verified by Cyril Depoudent of the Les Grands Centenaires Français, and validated by the ESO on 13 November 2022.
On 25 November 2023, following the passing of 112-year-old Andrée Guyon, she became the oldest living person in Centre-Val de Loire Region.
