BIOGRAPHY

Komiya Miyazaki was born in Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture on August 20, 1897.

After the death of her husband in 1946, she lived alone, farming for about two years until her eldest son Yoshinobu returned from Siberian internment.

Weeding was her daily routine until she lost the ability to walk at the age of 105.

She moved into a nursing home around 2001. She read the newspaper every day, was not a picky eater, and finishing her meal before she was full was the secret to her long life.
She loved sweets, especially fruit parfaits.

Komiya Miyazaki died in Miyoshi, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan on 4 January 2011, at the age of 113 years, 137 days.
At the time of her death, she was the fourth-oldest living person in Japan, after Chiyono Hasegawa, Shige Hirooka, and Jiroemon Kimura. She was also the oldest living person in Hiroshima Prefecture.
