Kikuno Yamamoto (Japanese: 山本キクノ) was a Japanese supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Kikuno Yamamoto was born on 27 July 1905 in Japan and lived in Utoro Plateau, Shari Town, located on the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido Prefecture. The name “Utoro” comes from the Ainu language, meaning “going through a narrow path between rocks”.

In July 2005, she celebrated her 100th birthday and received a congratulatory letter and a commemorative gift from the Prime Minister and the Governor of Hokkaido on September 15 of that year.

Since 2010, Yamamoto was recognized annually as the oldest person in Shari Town.

Yamamoto passed away on 24 March 2016 in Shari, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan, at the age of 110 years, 241 days.

RECOGNITION

In September 2014, she was reported as the fourth-oldest living woman in Hokkaido Prefecture.

In September 2015, she was reported as the second-oldest living woman in Hokkaido Prefecture, behind Teru Hatakeyama. At time of her death, she was the third-oldest living person in Hokkaido Prefecture, behind Teru Hatakeyama and Masazo Nonaka.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 5 December 2024.
