Kame Saitō (Japanese: 斉藤/齊藤 カメ) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Kame Saitō was born in Japan on 5 January 1905. She married and had children, with her eldest son serving as a welfare and child welfare committee member in Utsunomiya City.

Saitō had a love for chocolate, and it was reported that she enjoyed some just a few days before her passing. Kame Saitō passed away on 12 October 2015, at the age of 110 years, 280 days, at a hospital in Utsunomiya City due to old age.

RECOGNITION

Following the passing of Hana Hashikabe (2 January 1905 – 28 September 2014) of Utsunomiya City, she became the oldest living person in Tochigi Prefecture at the age of 109 years, 266 days. She celebrated her 110th birthday on 5 January 2015, and by September of that year, she was officially recognized as the oldest living person in the prefecture.

Upon her passing, Tsukimi Kishi succeeded her as the oldest living person in Tochigi Prefecture.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 15 October 2024.
