BIOGRAPHY

Kerner was born in Kazsok, Somogy County, Austria-Hungary (present-day Hungary) on 23 December 1909. During her life, she mainly worked in the hospitality and agriculture sectors. She had a daughter aged 88, and a number of descendants, including five great-great-grandchildren.

Since the age of 105, she had been living in a home for the eldery in Balatonfuzfo, Veszprem County. She was still said to be a great observer and debater with a wry sense of humour. She celebrated her 110th birthday in December 2019.

Kerner died in Balatonfuzfo, Veszprem County, Hungary on 21 December 2020 at the age of 110 years, 364 days. At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest living person in Hungary behind Veronika Zsilinszki.

Kerner’s age was verified by Támas Bényei and validated by the ESO on 3 January 2021.
