Iracema Camargo de Araújo was a Brazilian supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS).

BIOGRAPHY

Iracema Camargo de Araújo was born in the Mãe dos Homens neighborhood of Bragança Paulista, São Paulo, Brazil, on 5 October 1914. She had ten siblings. She attended the State School José Guilherme, the Doctor Jorge Tibiriçá Municipal School, and the Educational Institute Heart of Jesus.

At some point, she married Tércio Pereira de Araújo, a train driver and mechanic at the Bragantina Railway. The couple had three children: Maria Lúcia, José Geraldo and Jair. Her husband passed away in 1966.

At the age of 109, she had 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Camargo de Araújo passed away on 24 June 2025 in Bragança Paulista, São Paulo, Brazil, at the age of 110.

RECOGNITION

In 2020, a public road within the Euroville II Subdivision in Bragança Paulista was formally renamed in her honor.

Her age was verified by Filipe Lopes and Gabriel Ainsworth, and validated by the LAS on 13 October 2022.

On 5 October 2023, she was honored by the municipality of Bragança Paulista at the City Council, along with another centenarian, 100-year-old Maria Luiza Masochi Moreno.
