Hildegard Lange (née Dobrindt) was a German supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Hildegard Lange was born in Olsztyn, Warmian–Masurian Voivodeship, Poland (then Allenstein, East Prussia), on 12 January 1907. She married Erwin Lange. After World War II, she and her husband moved to Rostock.

In 1966, following her husband’s retirement, the couple was able to leave what was then East Germany and make a fresh start in Detmold.

At the age of 111, she received support from her neighbors, who helped her with everyday tasks. They ran errands and did the shopping together. At the time, her only surviving son was 85 years old, while her other two sons had passed away. Her foster daughter lived in the Harz Mountains. She occasionally spent a few days at a nursing home for respite care. For the previous four years, she had been connected to the local emergency call service. After several falls—one of which resulted in hip surgery—this precaution became necessary for both her and her family.

Hildegard Lange passed away in Bad Oeynhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on 8 September 2019, at the age of 112 years, 239 days.
