Henya Rabinov was born in Pinsk, Brest Region, Belarus (then Russian Empire), on 2 April 1910. Her father was a wealthy Hasidic Jewish businessman who owned a hotel and several shops. In her youth, she joined the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement.
After finishing high school, she went to study at the University of Grenoble in France. Much to her parents’ displeasure, after one year of studies and at the age of 20, she decided to immigrate to Israel with her friends. At some point before moving, she married Efraim Rabinov. The two immigrated together and worked in road construction and agriculture before helping to establish Kibbutz Sha’ar HaGolan in 1937. In the kibbutz, she worked in a vegetable garden, in a vineyard, in education, served as the kibbutz secretary, and spent 45 years in accounting. She was an active and opinionated member, leading a completely independent life until she was over 100 years old, including riding a bicycle and going to the dining room. She had at least one son, Amnon.
Rabinov passed away in Sha’ar HaGolan, Northern District, Israel, on 30 January 2021.
