Hatsuyo Ōtsuchi [Japanese: 大土ハツヨ] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Hiroshima Prefecture at the time of her death.

BIOGRAPHY
Hatsuyo Ōtsuchi (大土ハツヨ) was born in Miyoshi, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, on 3 March 1897. She spent much of her life farming in Akitakata, Hiroshima Prefecture. In 1989, at the age of 92, she moved into a nursing home in her hometown of Miyoshi. She was known for having a strong appetite and was reportedly able to finish an entire steak well into her 80s. Even after reaching the age of 100, she continued to send handwritten New Year’s cards to close friends and acquaintances.
On her 109th birthday, she dressed in a traditional Japanese samue outfit that had been presented by her grandson, while her eldest daughter, then aged 88, joined the celebration. At the age of 110 years and three months, she was hospitalized with pneumonia but later recovered. Ōtsuchi passed away from natural causes at a hospital in Akitakata on 10 September 2007, at the age of 110 years and 191 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living person in Hiroshima Prefecture. Following her death, Komiya Miyazaki succeeded her as the prefecture’s oldest living resident.

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 20 November 2007 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
