Haru Kitagawa [Japanese: 北川はる] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture at the time of her passing.
Haru Kitagawa (北川はる) was born in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, on January 23, 1900.
She had one child and was survived by a total of ten descendants, including great-great-grandchildren.
Following the passing of Tsuji Takano of Niigata City at age 112 on June 17, 2009, Kitagawa became the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture.
Kitagawa passed away from natural causes at a nursing home on April 2, 2011, at the age of 111 years and 69 days. After her death, Miwa Sugisawa of Niigata City succeeded her as the prefecture’s oldest living person.
Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 3 January 2011 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
