Hanae Sugiyama [Japanese: 杉山花枝] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Shizuoka Prefecture at the time of her death.
BIOGRAPHY
Hanae Sugiyama (杉山花枝) was born in Japan on 27 July 1890. In her younger years, she worked as a teacher of traditional Japanese dressmaking (wasai). She reportedly continued making clothes by hand for her children and grandchildren even after the age of 90. Until suffering a stroke shortly before her 100th birthday, she remained physically active, enjoyed reading, and consciously maintained healthy habits, including regularly eating vinegar-based dishes.
Following the death of Yasu Akino (113) in February 1999, Sugiyama became the oldest living person in Shizuoka Prefecture. She passed away from heart failure at a hospital in Gotemba, Shizuoka Prefecture, on 11 January 2001, at the age of 110 years and 168 days. Following her death, Mise Ito succeeded her as the oldest living person in Shizuoka Prefecture.

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group.
