Gozei Taba (Japanese: 田場ゴゼイ) was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Okinawa Prefecture at the time of her passing.
Gozei Taba (田場ゴゼイ) was born in Shuri Ishimine Town, Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, on September 12, 1889.
Even after turning 100, she remained active—growing bitter melons (goya) in her garden and selling them to a nearby local shop. At the age of 104, she suffered a hip fracture after a fall in her living room, which made walking difficult. From that point on, she was hospitalized in Naha City but continued to return home on weekends. She was known for her cheerful and worry-free nature, always smiling and well-liked by those around her.
Following the death of Kamado Kuwae, aged 109, on April 24, 1999, Taba became the oldest living person in Okinawa Prefecture.
She passed away on January 6, 2001, at the age of 111 years and 116 days. After her passing, Kame Nagayama succeeded her as the oldest living person in the prefecture.
Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 7 March 2000.
