Ferdeline Vergelas-Tamarin was born on 1 June 1903. Her mother, Emilienne Tamarin, was 37 years old when she gave birth to Ferdeline. She had previously had four children with her first partner. Her father, Auguste Vergelas, later had two more children—in 1906 and 1908—with another woman.
