Evelyn Houghton is an American supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Evelyn Houghton was born in Swampscott, Massachusetts, USA, on 24 July 1915. She is of English and Irish heritage. Her father served as the superintendent of the school in Attenborough, Massachusetts, while her mother was a second-grade teacher. She also had a younger brother.

She met her future husband while attending high school in Marquette, Michigan. Together, they had three children: Trudy, Mary Ellen, and Bill. Evelyn studied at Radcliffe College, near Harvard University, where she earned a degree in psychology. She later became a teacher, working with children affected by polio. Her husband later passed away from heart disease.

In 1961, she remarried Marvin Houghton in Marquette, Michigan. Marvin was a consultant, and at the time, Evelyn was teaching fifth grade. Marvin had two children from a previous marriage, Nancy and Douglas.

At the age of 110, it was reported that although her eyesight had failed, she continued to take part in activities at the assisted living facility where she resides, including trivia and spelling games.
