BIOGRAPHY

López was born in Villa Constitución, Santa Fe, Argentina, on 21 June 1907.

At some point, she married and had six children. In 1989, at the age of 82, she moved to Mar del Plata with her husband and children.

At the age of 112, she had 16 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. When asked about the secret of her longevity, she replied: “take a glass of wine every day at lunch…” On 29 April 2021, aged 113, Lopez got vaccinated against COVID-19.

López died from pneumonia in Don Bosco, Mar del Plata, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 28 August 2021 at the age of 114 years, 68 days. She lived with her daughter Sara (aged 89 in 2019) and son Mario (aged 86 in 2019).

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by the GRG on 24 October 2019.

At the time of death, she was the second-oldest living person validated in Argentina, behind Casilda Benegas.

To this day, she remains the oldest person born in Argentina whose age is validated.
