Elizabeth Wiseman was born in Olive Branch, Mississippi, USA, on 28 February 1915, as the fourth of seven children born to parents Clufus Woods and Delia Watson. She attended Botts Chapel School until the 8th grade, where she developed foundational skills in reading, writing, and math.
A woman of deep faith, she became a devoted member of Hurts Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church at the age of 12, when she first confessed her belief in the Lord. Reflecting on her life, she said, “I found the Lord when I was twelve years old, and I know I have failed at some point in my life, but I rose back up and I’ve been on a straight road ever since. I thank God for how good He is to me, and I give Him all the praise for life’s longevity.”
On 16 November 1936, at 21, she married Walter Wiseman. Her husband worked as both a farmer and a truck driver, while Elizabeth supported him on the farm. Together, they raised seven children—four daughters and three sons. Elizabeth always encouraged her children to pursue higher education, and all of them successfully achieved this goal. By the time she was 105, her family grew to include 28 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Their marriage lasted 65 years and nearly two months, until Walter passed away in January 2002.
Her age has not been validated.
