BIOGRAPHY

Elfriede Martha Petrasch was born in Stary Zdrój (German: Altwasser), Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland (then Germany), on 14 February 1905. She worked as a saleswoman her entire life.

As of her 109th birthday, she resided in a nursing home in the borough of Reinickendorf in Berlin. On her birthday, she was visited by representatives from the district office, along with family members and former neighbors. The director of the nursing home where she lived organized a surprise celebration, and together with many of the residents, they performed a heartfelt serenade in her honor.

Even at an advanced age, she remained actively involved in the center’s activities, though she enjoyed taking short naps more frequently. She had a fondness for sweets and a deep love of music that had been with her since childhood.

Elfriede Petrasch passed away in Reinickendorf, Berlin, Germany, on 20 June 2015, at the age of 110 years, 126 days.
