BIOGRAPHY

Ei Nakano was born in Kishigawa (now part of Kinokawa), Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, on 25 March 1912. She was the fifth of nine siblings, and the third daughter.

Nakano never married nor had children. She ran a tobacco and general retail store until she reached the age of 80. Her lifelong hobby was composing songs, a passion she had pursued since her youth. In her songs, she captured the emotions of joy, gratitude, and the everyday moments of her life. In July 2011, she published her work in a 48-page songbook titled “Nameless Flowers,” through a publishing company owned by her nephew.

Nakano passed away in Kinokawa, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, on 9 June 2022, at the age of 110 years, 76 days.
