Egbertje Leutscher-de Vries was a Dutch supercentenarian. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) and recognised by LongeviQuest.
Egbertje Leutscher-de Vries was born in the village of Uffelte in the province of Drenthe, Netherlands, on 22 October 1902. Her parents were Jakob de Vries (1858–1954) and Mina Hoogeveen (1872–1918). She was born in the small hamlet of Holtinge and lived there with her parents until their house was demolished when she was 12, after which they moved to Wapserveen.
On 30 April 1926, at 23, she married Geert Leutscher (1902–1993). The couple had six children, but the outlived the four eldest. She was survived by the youngest, Mina (then 72) and Geke (then 70).
Her younger brother, Roelof de Vries (7 December 1911 – 16 February 2017), lived to be 105 years and 71 days old.
Egbertje Leutscher-de Vries passed away in Havelte, Drenthe, Netherlands, on 14 August 2014, at the age of 111 years, 296 days.
On 21 August 2012, following the passing of 110-year-old Cornelis Geurtz, she became the oldest known living person in the Netherlands. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Nelly de Vries-Lammerts.
Leutscher-de Vries’ age was verified by Marco Wikkerink and Sipke de Boer, and was validated by the ESO on 2 February 2020.
