BIOGRAPHY

Efraín Núñez Núñez was born in Boca De Bao, Santiago Province, Dominican Republic, on 28 December 1904. His parents were Ramón Antonio Núñez and Teolinda Núñez. His father apparently died at the claimed age of 118.

In addition to agriculture, he worked for years in New York, USA. In 1930, he married Ozema Collado and had 11 children. One of his sons, Agripino Nunez Collado (1933–2022) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and scholar. His wife died in 1993.

Núñez Núñez died in the El Ensueño neighbourhood of Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, on 22 May 2017, at the age of 112 years, 145 days. According to reports, he had been in poor health for several months prior to his death.

RECOGNITION

His age has been pending on the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS) since 9 April 2022.

At the time of death, he could have been the oldest man who ever died in Dominican Republic.
