Edith Madaline Hamlin (née Lively) was an American supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living person in the U.S. state of Virginia.

Hamlin was born in Hampton, Virginia, USA, on 19 July 1912, to parents Abraham J. and Susanna Lively.

In 1952, she became the second wife of James Alexander Hamlin Sr. and settled in Newport News, Virginia.

Hamlin passed away in Newport News, Virginia, USA, on 15 April 2024, at the age of 111 years, 271 days.

RECOGNITION

On 24 February 2023, following the passing of 111-year-old Josephine Jones, she became the oldest (known) living person in Virginia. Upon her passing, she was succeeded by Virginia Jefferson, who was less than a month younger.
