Dorothy Keller was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States on 28 September 1907. She met her future husband, Marvin Keller, in church, and the couple were married n 3 May 1928. They had two children together: one of which, named Barbara, was born on Dorothy’s 30th birthday in 1937. She would later state that this was the most memorable birthday of her life.
Marvin served as a Pennsylvania state legislator for more than 30 years, and Dorothy would often accompany her husband on business trips to Europe, and even met then-President Dwight D. Eisenhower in the 1950s. The couple were married for close to 50 years, before Marvin’s death in 1976.
By 2005, she had lived in seven different assisted living facilities, but disliked all of them; she later decided to move in with her daughter, who took care of her. At the time of her 104th birthday in 2011, she had broken her hip twice, but still was able to get around with the aid of a walker. She took four pills daily: an aspirin, as well as medicine for heartburn, her joints, and blood pressure. She enjoyed shopping and going to church, and frequently watched shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune with her daughter.
