Delfina Begué San Martín was born in Chile, on 20 September 1905. Her father was of French-Basque origin, and her mother was from Vitoria (Álava, Spain). At some point, she got married and had two children.
Shortly before turning 110, she moved into Hogar Español, a residence for the elderly. On her 110th birthday, a delegation from the Spanish Embassy presented her with a gift from King Felipe VI of Spain and his wife, Queen Letizia. At the time, she was fully lucid and independent, though severely limited by deafness. She had 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
