Concepción Bravo was born in Mexico, on 1 April 1913, as the eighth of 10 children born to a single mother. Her parents married in 1917, but both tragically passed away within a week when she was just 5 years old due to the Spanish Flu pandemic. During her childhood, she found refuge with her uncle and aunt, Mateo and Vicenta, who provided her with a loving home.
Bravo got married and raised seven daughters: Emma, Estela, Elena, María de Lourdes, Martha, María Guadalupe, and María del Rocío.
According to her family, the secret to her longevity is her natural diet. Every morning, as a sacred ritual, she would eat an apple on an empty stomach. “It is the elixir of youth,” she would often say. Her family described her as having a strict yet very kind personality. She was consistently altruistic, always helping those in greatest need without seeking anything in return. Even in her centenarian years, she continued to hand-wash her clothes, cook, and maintain a decent level of physical activity.
At the age of 111, she has 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She currently lives in Mexico City with her daughters.
Her age was verified by Fabrizio Villatoro and Santiago García Medina, with the assistance of her family, and validated by LongeviQuest on 4 July 2024.
