BIOGRAPHY

Chiyono Eguchi (江口チヨノ) was born on 12 May 1914 in Japan.

At the age of 108, she was known for her refined demeanor, always sitting with a straight posture. She had a fondness for Yakult and sweets.

She passed away in Agano City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, on 6 April 2026, at the age of 111 years, 329 days.

RECOGNITION

She became the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture following the death of Toyo Kondo of Sanjo City, who passed away at the age of 111 on 3 September 2025. Following her own death, Setsuko Sakata of Tōkamachi City became the oldest living person in Niigata.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), Ryohei Asano and Eli Logan, and the validation report was prepared by Yumi Yamamoto, and validated by LongeviQuest on 18 September 2025.
