Toyo Kondō [Japanese: 近藤豊] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture at the time of her death.

BIOGRAPHY

Toyo Kondō was born in Japan on March 29, 1914.

She had two children, and as of 2023, she had four grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In September 2023, the mayor of Sanjō City visited Kondō to celebrate her longevity as the city’s oldest resident. At that time, she was also the fifth-oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture. When asked about the secret to her longevity, she replied, “not to worry too much.”

She passed away in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, on September 3, 2025, at the age of 111 years and 158 days.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano and Marco Wikkerink, and validated by LongeviQuest on 21 April 2025.
