Chisato Ito passed away in Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture, sometime between 7 and 29 February 2008, at the age of 111 years, 343-365 days.
RECOGNITION
Her age was verified by the MHLW, Japan, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 17 November 2006. The validation was later recognized by LongeviQuest.
On 5 February 2008, following the passing of 111-year-old Matsu Tsuru, she became the oldest living person in Fukuoka Prefecture. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Mineno Yamamoto.
