BIOGRAPHY

Celina Hidalgo Arias was born in Santa Cruz, Guanacaste, Costa Rica, on 29 October 1910. She worked as a teacher in Lagunilla and also in the town of Santa Cruz. She was married but never had children.

Her older sister, Maria del Rosario Hidalgo Arias, lived to be 105. At the age of 108, she was taken care of by her nephew, Raúl Hidalgo. At the time, she was living in Barrio Limón of Santa Cruz.

Celina Hidalgo Arias passed away in the village of Chircó, Santa Cruz District, Santa Cruz canton, Guanacaste, Costa Rica, on 5 November 2020, at the age of 110 years, 7 days.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by Stefan Maglov, Fabrizio Villatoro, and Jeffrey Xu, and validated by the LAS on 7 May 2021.
