BIOGRAPHY

Auta Pinto da Silva was born in Iguape, São Paulo, Brazil, on 28 January 1911.

At some point, she married Antônio Martins Silva, with whom she had 10 children. In 1952, the family relocated to Rua do Funil, in the center of the city, where they resided for a brief period. In 1980, she settled in Tucum, a small village accessible by crossing the Rio Pequeno to reach her home. There, she cultivated rice, cassava, beans, and corn, continuing her agricultural activities until the age of 104.

In 2017, due to her advancing age and increased difficulties in crossing the river, the family decided to move to the bairro of Retiro in Iguape.

Auta Pinto Da Silva passed away in Iguape, São Paulo, Brazil, on 6 March 2023, at the age of 112 years, 37 days.
