Árpádné Juhász (née Terézia Kopányi) was a Hungarian supercentenarian who, at the time of her passing, was the country’s oldest living person.

BIOGRAPHY

Juhász was born in Győr, Győr-Moson-Sopron County, Hungary (then Austria-Hungary), on 14 May 1914. Her father died early, but her mother raised her with the belief that family is the most important thing.

At some point in her life, she got married and had a daughter. She worked as an assistant to the doctor at the Richards factory in Győr for decades, up until her retirement in 1970. At the age of 97, she moved into a nursing home in Győrújfriar, where she currently resides.

Juhász credited her longevity to staying active and moving as much as she can throughout her whole life. At the age of 108, she was no longer able to walk, and relied on a wheelchair to move around.

Árpádné Juhász passed away in Győrújbarát, Győr-Moson-Sopron County, on 22 January 2026, at the age of 111 years, 253 days.

RECOGNITION

On 17 December 2022, following the passing of 111-year-old Istvánné Fejes, she became the oldest (known) living resident of Hungary.

Her age was verified by Tamás Bényei, and validated by LongeviQuest on 17 December 2025.
