Ángela Díaz Millán was a Mexican supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS). At the time of death, she was the oldest known (documented) living person in Mexico.
Ángela Díaz Millán was born in Mexico City, Mexico on 29 April 1910. She was the second of nine children born to parents Angel Díaz and Amparo Millán. She was the niece of Gabriel Ramos Millan, a Mexican politician who died in a plane crash, along with the actress Blanca Estela Pavón, on 26 September 1949.
On 30 January 1937, at the age of 26, she married José Luis Hernández del Río in Cuauhtémoc, Mexico City. The couple had at least four children: Elia Margarita, Maria de los Angeles, Jose Luis, and Alejandro. During the 1960’s, she traveled to Texas, USA.
Her husband died on 19 December 2002, at the age of 93. Her great-grandson said that she almost never drank water, only Coca-Cola or Sidral Mundet (carbonated Mexican apple-flavored soda). He claimed how her extreme longevity was a mystery. On 31 March 2021, at the age of 110, Diaz Millan got vaccinated against COVID-19. In January 2022, at the age of 111, she contracted COVID-19 during the coronavirus pandemic. However, she successfully recovered.
Ángela Díaz Millán died in Mexico City, Mexico, at 8:30 AM on 19 October 2022, at the age of 112 years, 173 days.
Her age was verified by Fabrizio Villatoro, and validated by the LAS on 4 November 2020.
On 21 April 2022, she became the oldest known (documented) living person in Mexico, following the death of 112-year-old Esperanza Mendoza Hermosillo.
