Ana Faustina Tejada de Valdes is a Colombian supercentenarian.
BIOGRAPHY
Ana Faustina Tejada was born in Popayán, Cauca Department, Colombia, on 9 February 1915. In September 1938, she married Matías Valdés, and the couple had five children. The marriage lasted for 63 years, until Matías’ passing in 2001.
All her children were professionals: Nelly (doctor), Esperanza (accountant), Zenaida (lawyer), Adolfo and Ligia (engineers). From the marriage, she got her family extended by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
At the age of 102, when asked what advice does she give her grandchildren, she replied: “Be kind, behave well with everyone.” She shared that when someone gets married, it’s important to know how to relate to their spouse in a way that avoids constant arguments. She said she managed that with her husband—he treated her well, and in turn, she was able to raise her children and support their education. She attributed her long life to God. Ever since childhood, she had never been ill.
She currently lives with great care and love given by her family in Bogotá, Colombia.
